Learning and development

We provide extensive training and development opportunities through our online capability and specific development programs in leadership, management and sales and service are available to staff interested in further developing their skills.

Our modern, state-of-the-art learning environments in our Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne head offices, include a range of classroom types and configurations, audiovisual equipment and breakout areas.

Unions

St.George has a positive and constructive relationship with the Finance Sector Union, underpinned by a collective agreement covering the terms and conditions of employment for the majority of staff. All staff are able to seek assistance and guidance from the Union in their workplace.

An equal opportunity employer

St.George practices equal employment opportunity to ensure cultural and gender diversity in the workplace. The policy extends to advertising of positions, training, resolving workplace problems, dismissal and retrenchment and remuneration benefits for staff.

We also recognise that behaviour such as discrimination, harassment, vilification, victimisation and bullying have a negative impact on an employee and the general work environment, and have clear guidelines on managing these behaviours.

Maintaining a safe working environment

We have a clearly defined OH&S policy, which is regularly updated to incorporate changes to relevant state legislation. Regular inspections are carried out to ensure our sites are free from hazards and our people are encouraged to report concerns to their OH&S representatives.

Worklife balance

St.George Bank offers a range of provisions, which enable employees to discuss with their manager, greater flexibility in their work arrangements. This includes flexible parental leave, study leave, emergency services leave, part-time/flexi-time and job share arrangements, the ability to work from home and education assistance programs. We also provide gym facilities in our Sydney and Adelaide head offices and a range of lifestyle benefits to everyone in the Group.
