St.George Foundation – celebrating 20 years of helping Aussie kids!

St.George staff joined in Foundation Day activities on Thursday 20 May, celebrating 20 years of helping Aussie kids. Over 150 teams registered from all over Australia to host activities – from Dandenong to Townsville and Joondalup to Budgewoi, over $47,000 was raised. The fantastic news is that this money will be matched dollar for dollar by the Bank.

Greg Bartlett visited teams across the Bank in Sydney and said it was “fantastic to see the enthusiasm on display and staff taking part in activities, raising funds to help Aussie kids in need. It was also great to see Happy out and about supporting the cause too!”

Perth Golf

Around 125 St.George staff and customers gathered at Royal Perth Golf Club to enjoy a day of golf. Most importantly, they were there to help Aussie kids by raising funds for St.George Foundation.

Malcolm Talbot, Managing Director WA and Happy Dragon drove the drinks cart and did a sterling job of making sure that everyone was well watered.

Fundraising on the Fairway activities included the chance to win a car with a hole-in-one, plus cash prizes for the speed and putting competitions. An added extra from Platinum Sponsors, Lavin Legal, was a fabulous Moet and Oysters bar at the 18th hole.

After the game the golfers relaxed with a barbeque dinner at the clubhouse. Other fundraising activities included a raffle and a very entertaining auction.

Local charity Kids Camps Inc presented to guests about the real difference that funding from St.George Foundation has made to the families of intellectually disabled children. Kids camp programs provide respite and recreation activates. The Foundation presented Kids Camps with a cheque for a further $18,700 to fund two more camps for this year.

Over $34,000 was raised on the day and the real winners will be the thousands of Aussie kids in need who will benefit from the money raised.

Charity Shield match a win for St.George Foundation

Charity Shield match a win for St.George Foundation

St.George Foundation today announced that it raised more than $7000 and significant awareness at the weekend’s Charity Shield match played between the St George Illawarra Dragons and the South Sydney Rabbitohs in front of a record crowd of 27,221.

The Charity Shield match is the “unofficial” start to the season and it is televised nationally showcasing the involvement of both Dragons Community & Souths Cares from the respective NRL Clubs.

St.George Foundation is proud to be a major charity partner of Dragons Community along with St George and Wollongong public hospitals.

St.George Foundation Manager, Judy Lewis, said the annual Charity Shield match is an important event on the Foundation’s fundraising calendar.

“While the match ended in a nail-biting draw, the result was a big win for the many charities the Foundation supports. We would like to particularly thank both clubs and their players for making the Charity Shield such a success,” Ms Lewis said.

“Not only does the annual Charity Shield raise vital funds for the St.George Foundation, it helps to boost the profile of the work we do to improve the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children.

“We would like to thank the many fans of both clubs who dug deep and made donations on the day, and also to our army of volunteers who helped with fundraising.”

St.George Foundation provides funding for programs to improve the lives of disabled or disadvantaged children. Since 1990, the Foundation has helped thousands of kids be the best they can be by raising the funds that have provided more than $14 million in grants to children’s charities. During 2009, the Foundation distributed more than $1.2 million to 64 children’s charities throughout Australia. The Foundation is supported by St.George Bank, which makes significant donations each year as well as covering all administrative costs, to ensure that all donations reach the kids who need them most.
